JIGC (Julius' Immortal Galaxy Control) presents: Suzy's Dream (headphones-mix) This piece of musical art was produced in the year 1992. This was the year in which music for me had re-gained most of its original starting point's freedom. Music without the idea, again. Thanks to the endless possibilities that the use of electronic and digital data brought us in music-making, humans got off its rusty outlines in defining music. No barriers, no boundaries, no limits have influenced the making of this ten minutes-mix of a very wide range of musical inputs and influences. There never was an obligation to produce it, it has been made completely out of the blue by someone who sincerely loves many kinds of music and someone who believes in the positive effects music can have on humans. It can comfort the maker as well as the listener, it can change the world of the listener, yes it could change your life and may even guide you when making choices! It can also influence moods you could be in when hearing this product. That has been the goal of the producer; his incentive, his motive, to let others feel what he himself feels. Basically to share his sorrow and joy, to reveal his soul, to endure and enjoy together. It was not his intention to shock, to bring people down or to make others jealous. Life is hell enough as it is, and if you want it to be even worse, you'll find something in "Suzy's Dream" that will do. However, if you want your life to improve, you should listen to this music, and maybe afterwards it will! Julius is known for his 'golden touch'. Technically we have landed, concerning most of music-production. For everything is possible now and limitations merely exist on paper, or are below measurable levels. Popular music doesn't need to be built on prescriptions any longer. Chorus, couplet, vocal, song and sound are no longer something music lovers demand. We simply don't really care anymore. Noise can now be added for a feel, crisps are in our own hands, cracks can be generated and made into patterns or loops. Sound is music, music is sound. Nothing is necessary and everything is possible, that's where it comes down to nowadays. We are back at the core, with our personal taste and preference as our own criteria. The world today doesn't have the time to worry about fitting into boxes or places, people now know better than ever before that a hit-record no longer needs to sound like anything else, it doesn't have to sound clean, neat or bandlike, nor does it have to end before the 5 minutes are over. DJ's can pick whatever part they like and play that as much as they want. Because of the composer of this product being fed up with author's rights, courts and laws on sampling, he decided to create this all for free, and never press charges. He believes people will always know who was first with what anyway. And because there are too many ways to steal something in music and people simply really don't give a fuck who did what, especially in a world where a future is such an insecure area. As long as you like the here and now playing music, who cares? Live with it, and maybe remember a name, but NOT because we (or BUMA or ASCAP) want you to, no, only if you like to know the name in case you ever see it again and would want to buy something done with or by Julius. Suzy's Dream stands for all of the above and more. It's an allayed whoop for total freedom of choice in music-making. It contributes to all record-collections. And not for the money. Play it loud on your headphones. When you're a DJ; test it in your club for its hypnotic powers appear even better at real high levels: When bass is felt, when high can be sensed and melodic rhythms force you to move. Used in the making are both analog and digital audio-generating instruments. Even the original NON-MIDI Bass-line TB-303 by Roland is being used and programmed by Julius as well. At times synchronization could only be done in one take, and by hand, in ways Giorgio Moroder must have been syncing on his 1976-album "From Here To Eternity". Although lots of MIDI and digital data-processing came lurking around that dark and cold error-correcting corner, the humanity of it all and several analog mastering-tricks made it sound real warm and full :-) JIGC used (cleared) samples for this production, and among some obscure others they are from 'My Love' by Claps from 'Mangez-Moi' by Billy Ze Kick Jimmy Tunnel from 'Touch Me With Your Heart' by Eileen Flores The 'groovey' sample is Bruce Campbell in 'Evil Dead part 2', and the 'shake your kaboose' sample is Kristy Swanson in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. With hot and healthy thanks to apparently unbreakable equipment by: Alesis, Hitachi (DAT), BASF, Luxman, D&R, Atari, Roland, Yamaha, Kawai, StudeRevox, Sansui, Inkel, Maxell, Sony and Philips. Special thanks to the Energy supply company (GEB), and Water supplier for the city of Amsterdam: Yes we know we've got the cleanest water in the world! Also thanks to LEVEL ELECTRONICA, 1st Oosterparkstr. 126 for their superb service and incredibly low prices. Realization of Suzy's Dream could never have been done without you! Last but not least we thank the immortal galactic Force; it was with us all the way! ************************************************************************** (c)1992 Julius Thyssen (p)1995 Sybex / FUJI
