While contemplating my movie-viewing habits, I came to the realization that (on average) I've seen at least 2 new movies each week since 1982. Before that it's hard to say. (Things were so much different without cable-tv and VHS..) Among the thousands that I must have seen, there are only very few that have gotten my personal seal of approval. Doing some self-research I decided to find out the 30 movies drifting above the others (which was really hard to do, by the way). Some of them I know aren't perfect movies, yet they remain in my memory as precious works of art, they deserve more appreciation, or I love the colors, sounds, photography, music, idea(s), actors, or the heart and soul of these films. Yes, I know, I have a weird taste in movies. ;-) I think you should see them at least once, they're not only highly educational, you just haven't lived your life right if you didn't see these yet.

Mooi lijstje Juul, ik heb niet alles gezien, maar toch een stuk of 5 van je lijstje. Aangezien je een goede aangever bent zal ik er zeker nog een paar uit je lijstje halen, voor de donkere winter maanden. Overgens mis ik nog wel die ene, die toch ook wel erg mooi is om zeker 1 keer gezien te hebben. Die van de tissues. En The Green Mile mis ik ook nog wel in je lijstje.

Tja, The Green Mile vond ik veel te reli voor mijn smaak. Wel mooi, maar past verder niet bij mij als mens. Griffin & Phoenix (2006) was inderdaad een kanshebber, maar die eindigt ergens als 36e voor mij :-) drifting just below the surface..
